Name of the Society:
The Society shall be named as Bangladesh Society for Study of Pain abbreviated as BSSP
The Monogram Designed and used the adhoc committee of BSSP will remain incorporated in the constitution and will remain as the approved monogram of BSSP.
Registered office of the Society:
The registered office of the society shall be located 161. Lake Circus, Kalabagan, Dhaka 1205. It may establish branches anywhere in Bangladesh for carrying out the purpose of the Society.
The aims and objectives of the society:
The aims and objectives of the society shall be
- The society shall have perpetual existence.
- The purposes of the society are exclusively educational scientific and charitable in nature.
- To foster and encourage research of pain mechanisms and pain syndromes and to help improve the management of patients with acute and chronic pain by bringing together basic scientists, physicians, and other health professionals of various disciplines and backgrounds who have an interest in pain research and management,
- to promote education and training in the field of pain.
- To promote and facilitate the dissemination of new information in the field of pain including sponsorship of a joumal.
- To promote and sponsor an Annual/Biannual Conference of the society and such other meeting as may be useful or desirable for the advancement of the purposes of the society.
- The formation of society for the study of pain and treatment of pain in different parts of the country provided minimum requirements and fulfilled.
- To encourage the adoption of a uniform classification, nomenclature, and definition regarding pain and syndromes.
- To encourage the development of national and international data bank and to encourage the development of a uniform records system with respect to information relation to pain mechanisms, syndromes, and management,
- To inform the general public of the results and implications of current research in the area, nationally s internationally.

Activities of the Society:
The activities of the Society Shall run within the limit of its aims and objectives specified in Memorandum of the Society.
Head Office:
The head office of the society shall be located at 161, Lake Circus. Kalabagan. Dhaka 1205 and branch offices may be established anywhere in Bangladesh.
The eligibility of membership:
General Membership in the Society is a privilege arising from election thereto and is contingent on compliance with the requirements of these Bylaws and such other general requirements of membership as may be adopted from time by members of the E.C Sll committees of the society may act solely in an advisory capacity to the E.C and shall have no power or authority to bind the Association except at the expressed wish of society.
Categories of Membership:
Membership of the Society is divided into following classes.
a. Regular Members: Scientists, physicians and other health professionals interested in the objectives of the Society are eligible for election as regular members of the Society. Election to regular membership in the Society shall be accomplished in accordance with such bylaws of the Society as shall have been adopted by the Executive committee of the Society each regular member of the Society shall be entitled to one vote on matters brought before the membership.
b. Retired Members: Regular active members may request transfer to retired status. Election to retired membership in the Society shall be accomplished in accordance with such bylaws of the Society as shall have been adopted by Executive Committee. Retired members shall be entitled to vote on matters brought before the membership Regular active members only may, upon retirement from their regular professional activities. Request in writing, transfer to retired member status. Dues shall only be assessed to cover the cost of BSSP member subscription to the Society s journal.
c. Honorary members: A limited number of persons who have made outstanding contributions in the fields of pain research management or treatment shall be entitled to election as honorary members of the society. Nomination to honorary membership shall be accomplished as provided in bylaws of the society to be adopted by its Executive Committee but a person may be elected to honorary membership only by vote of the regular members. Honorary members shall not be entitled to vote on matters brought before the membership honorary members may be nominated by the Committee on Honorary Members and Special Lectures and if such nomination is approved by E.C, shall be elected if such election is approved by vote of the regular members of the Society
d. Life Members: Past Presidents of the society shall automatically become life members, each life member of the Society shall be entitled to one vote on matters brought before the membership. Past-Presidents of the Society shall automatically become life members. Each life member shall be exempted from paying membership dues shall be entitled to one vote on matters brought before the membership and receive the journal and or any other official publication issued by the society.
e. Contributing Members: Persons or organizations, including charitable or business corporations, who are interested in furthering the purposes of the society and who are not eligible for election as regular members of the society may apply for contributing membership in the society. Election to contributing membership shall be in either of two categories based on amount of yearly support, affiliate or supporting in the manner provided in the by laws of the society to be adopted by its Executive committee. Contributing members shall not be entitled to vote on matters brought before the society contributing members may be nominated by any two regular members of the society. And shall be elected by vote of the E.C, Two categories of contributing membership, different in amount of subscription BSSP shall exist, Affiliate Membership. Tk 50,000 per year, and Supporting Membership, Tk, 10,000 per year,
Enrollment of membership:
Election to regular membership shall be accomplished by written application for membership including sponsorship of two BSSP members in a prescribed form (Annex l). The application will be placed in E.C. and on full approval by E.C. may be accepted as regular members on payment of entry fee and one year s subscription
Subscription of members:
Dues s Assessments: the E.C shall establish annual dues and any special assessments to the regular members according to the needs of the society. Dues shall be payable on 1st April of each year.
Delinquency in Dues: As member who has not paid dues within a period of one year after billing shall at the time of billing for the succeeding year be notified of the forfeiture of membership unless all indebtedness to the society is met within 30 days.
Duration of membership:
A member or contributing member may resign at any time by giving written notice to the General Secretary. Dues or assessments. Which have been paid, shall not be refunded.
8. Suspension of Membership (at all categories)
a. Govt. or Court announces the punishment.
b. Announcement of suspension of registration by BDMC.
c. If dues are not cleared for 2 years. Even after proper notice.
d. If any member work against the medical profession specially BSSP or involve himself in anti social activities.
9. Organizational structure:
The organizational structure of the society shall be as follows:
General Council
Executive Committee
10. General council:
The general council shall consist of the members. A general Meeting of council shall be held every year.
The general council shall elect the Executive Committee in a general meeting for a term of two years;
The general council shall review and approve the activities and accounts of the society.
11. Executive committee:
Composition: the affairs and properties of the society shall be managed by an E.C which shall consist with the right of one vote each. By the officers of the society ex- officio (President and secretary General) the Editor-in Chief of the journal of the society ex-officio, and additional persons. (post-president 1, vice president 1, scientific secretary 1/, joint secretary 1, and members 4)
- Terms of E.C. members: 2 Years from 1st April to 31ts March.
- Election of E.C. Members
- Vacancies: lf a vacancy on the E.C. by virtue of death. Incapacity, or otherwise, the president subject to the approval by members of the E.C. shall be entitled to select a person to fill such vacancy for the remaining period of the term.
- Meetings: At the call of the secretary General the E.C. shall hold regular and monthly meeting. The E.C shall hold special meetings other times as the affairs of the society make necessary or desirable. Or desirable. Upon the call of the president/secretary General/ any five members of E.C. unless waived in writing by all the members of the E.C. written notice of meetings of the E.C. shall be given by mail not less than sixty (60) days prior to the date of such a meeting.
- Power s Duties: The power s duties of the E.C. shall principally include responsibility for conduct of the affairs and management of the properties of the society and shall include the following.
To implement and further the purposes of the society stated in the Articles of incorporation
To cause to be prepared the agenda for the National s internal congress of the society.
To carry out the resolutions of the members adopted at the World congress of the Association:
To invite at its discretion other organizations to send observers or representatives to the world congress or other Associations or societies congresses.
To review. Modify and/or approve a proposed budget for the society prepared by the treasurer.
To approve arrangements and adopt resolutions relating to deposit of funds of the society,
To perform such other functions as may be necessary or desirable in furtherance of the purposes of the society.

The committee for amendment of BSSP constitution has proposed the Following changed on section 7 and 11, under the heading of Enrollment of membership and Executive committee.
- Selection to regular membership shall be accomplished for membership, including sponsorship of two BSSP members in a prescribed form (Annex I). the application will be placed in EC and accepted by a simple majority of votes by EC as regular member.
Non-acceptability of membership:
- Anybody who docs not fulfill the criteria for membership
- Anybody who has evidence to act against BSSP
Section 11:
Addition of one clause:
Eligibility for the post other than President Elect/General election
- Anybody who has paid their membership fees regularly / updated
- Anybody who has completed at least 03 years of membership
Eligibility for President Elect/ Secretary General Election:
- Anybody who has paid their membership fees regularly / updated
- Anybody who has completed at least 05 years of membership
